Zolote Zernya

In collaboration with the Ukrainian brewery ‘Varvar’ we designed the recipe and the label for the ‘Zolote Zernya’, a ‘Ukrainian Golden Ale’ with 6% ABV, and brewed it with Ukrainian hops (Alta and Zagrava) and coriander seeds in Zurich. This relatively new beer style is inspired by Belgian beers, originates in Donetsk and has been brewed since 2009. The name ‘Zolotne Zernya’ stands for ‘Golden Grain’ and refers to the importance of Ukraine as the breadbasket of the world, which is in danger due to the war. Grains are also essential ingredient in brewing.
